Dance classes have taken up a major portion of my life. In elementary school, high school and University, I danced upwards of ten hours a week after classes and on weekends. The lower body workouts you get in a dance class (especially ballet) are almost unbeatable. My legs were muscular and toned, and although I ran for exercise, I never did weights or workouts for my lower body because it was all taken care of through dance classes.

Nowadays, I’ve switched from dance to yoga and gym classes, so I’ve had to work in lower body exercises to get similar results. The good news is, there are incredible workouts that will whip your lower body into shape. Your butt, thighs, glutes, and calves will feel the burn and many lower body workouts even work the core – score! Plus, you burn major calories, so lower body workouts benefit you tremendously overall.

This is the perfect midday workout to get you up and moving, especially if you sit at a desk all day. It requires absolutely no equipment, just you and your bod! Plus, you don’t need a lot of space, so even if you work at an office, just close the door and get moving! Jessica explains each position and exercise so you get the most out of the workout, and in just 8 minutes your lower body will be feeling the burn!

Brutal Butt & Thigh Workout – 30 Minute Lower Body Sculpting by FitnessBlender

The title of this workout says it all. It might be pretty brutal, but an amazing body will only come with hard work. I love the FitnessBlender videos because they really explain each exercise step by step and tell/show you how to do the movements properly. This is a great 30 minute circuit to tone your lower body and burn major calories!

Women’s Home Leg and Butt Lifting Workout by womensworkoutchannel

This is an amazing workout you can do right from your home. She takes you through a series of squat exercises that are sure to make your legs and bum burn! The exercises work to tone your legs and give them good form. She uses a bar bell for some of the exercises, so make sure you have one handy, or dumbbells will work too.

It will help to strengthen and tone, and make your lower body look amazing!

Ballet Barre Workout (Best Lower Body Workout for Women) by Tracy Campoli

Although this video is called a ballet barre workout, you don’t actually need to use a ballet barre. Instead, it incorporates moves and exercises you would do in a barre class that work to burn calories and give you lean, strong and toned legs, plus a lifted butt! As you can see from the video you can do everything right from your living room, and seeing that it only takes about 9 minutes, you have no excuse not to do it at least a couple times a week!

For this workout, you will need dumbbells to get the full effect. However, if you want to do these exercises at home and you don’t own a pair, you can always do them sans weights.
