13 Best Photoshoot Poses for Women

1. Looking Over the Shoulder

Stand with your back almost fully away from the camera (like you’re walking away) and then look back toward your photographer. You can place your thumbs in the loopholes of your jeans, put your hands in your pockets, or touch the brim of your hat if you’re wearing one. Try the pose on both sides to see which one works best for you!

2. Leaning Against the Wall

Use the wall for your prop for this pose. You can play around with different poses, but essentially you’re just leaning with your back up against the wall. Your feet should be farther out from the wall so it gives you that relaxed effect.

3. Sitting On The Ground with Your Head Tilted Back

Sitting poses are a great way to switch things up and make your photos more dynamic. For this one, sit down on the ground with your arms behind you and tilt your head back slightly. It’s probably a good idea to close your eyes, as it might look a bit awkward to have them open.

4. The Wine Glass Shot

If you have a hard time figuring out what to do with your hands when you’re getting photos taken, the best thing to do is hold something. In this case, a glass of wine. Sit on the side of your legs and lean over on one arm while the other is holding a wine glass to your lips. It’s a fun and flirty pose that’s easy to do!

5. Morning Cuppa

Another prop you can hold in your photo is a cup of coffee. You can do this standing, walking or sitting down like with this pose. Cross one leg over the other and place your other arm on the table beside you. Have your photographer take the shot from a low angle and look right into the camera.

6. Arms Crossed

Crossing your arms is a super simple pose to do and you can add other elements to make it a bit more enticing. Crossing one leg over the other like she’s doing in this photo adds some life and movement to the pose and looking over in the same direction as the foot makes it look like she’s on the go.

7. Hand on Your Face

As we mentioned above, it can be awkward to know what to do with your hands in a photo. This pose is super cute as she’s holding the side of her cheek and tilting her head ever so slightly toward her hand. Having one leg popped out in front of the other will also give length to your legs.

8. Leaning Back on the Stairs

Have a cool set of stairs nearby? This pose is perfect for you. Have your photographer shoot you at a side angle and sit with the knee closest to them bent. Lean back, with your elbows on the next stair up and stare out into the distance away from the photographer. You’ll look super cool and relaxed, and props like a purse or coffee cup sitting on the stairs don’t hurt either!

9. Hand in Your Hair

Hold your phone and purse in one arm, and touch your hair with your other hand. This pose definitely works best if your hair is down and you can tilt your head so that your hair has some movement. This pose elongates your body and is super lively.

10. Look to The Side

It can feel weird and unnatural to stare into the camera sometimes, so try looking away from the photographer. Try looking to both sides to see which one you like best. To make things look more natural, pop your hip and place your hand on the top edge of your pants.

11. Mid-Walk

Although this photo is likely posed, it gives the feeling that she’s mid-walk. This is great because it makes the pose look more dynamic. Step out with one leg in front of the other (which also gives you more length) and play around with where you want to place your arms.

12. Hand in your Pocket

This pose is super simple, but it’s a go-to for a reason. It gives off a cool, relaxed vibe and also gives you something to do with one of your hands. Leave the other arm hanging by your side and look in the direction of the arm that’s hanging.

13. Blocking the Sun

If you’re taking photos on a super sunny day, block the sun from your eyes by placing your hand on the upper edge of your face. Tilt your head slightly away from the sun, and place your other hand on your hip. You can look toward the camera or close your eyes. This is also a great pose to do sitting on the ground, with your free arm holding you up as you lean backward.

If you’re looking to up your photo game, these poses are sure to take your photography to the next level. Be sure to practice before going out with your photographer or tripod. The more comfortable you get with the poses, the more natural you’ll look!
