I don't know about you, but we had a really glutinous holiday, and my waistline and wallet are paying the price. The good news is that it's a new year and I'm motivated and ready to make some changes around here, the most important of which is to get this family back on track with a healthy eating plan and budget. And thanks to this FABULOUS find, I have (FINALLY!) learned how to meal plan to lose weight. And I'm sharing my secret with all of you!

I don’t know about you, but we had a really glutinous holiday.

There were a lot of takeout meals.

And chips.

And chocolate.

And cookies.

And beer.

And wine.

And let’s not forget about those 2 pies my husband and I inhaled BY OURSELVES in ONE SITTING on December 31.

(I can’t believe I just admitted that to all of you…)

Of course, we had a fantastic time indulging in all of those treats (and drinking all of that booze), but I would be lying if I told you I didn’t gag a little when I stepped onto the scale this morning.

And don’t even get me started on my Visa bill.

The good news is that it’s a new year and I’m motivated and ready to make some changes around here, the most important of which is to get this family back on track with a healthy eating plan and budget. The only problem is, I’m a LOUSY cook, and I don’t know the first thing about meal planning, which means I always end up spending a ridiculous amount of money on food each week while simultaneously complaining we have nothing to eat.

(It’s so much fun to live with me!)

Thankfully, I recently stumbled upon a service that COMPLETELY CHANGED MY LIFE.

I’m not kidding.

It’s called The Six O’Clock Scramble, and it’s an online meal planning and grocery shopping system that takes the stress out of trying to prepare healthy meals for your family. I started using it before the holidays, and picked it back up a few days ago, and I am absolutely AMAZED at what a difference it has made. Not only are the recipes delicious and easy to make, but I can plan a week’s worth of meals all in one go, which saves me a FORTUNE on groceries (and limits the amount of time I’m dragging my poor child around the produce department each week).

Oh, and did I mention you can specify what kind of dish you want to make (breakfast, grill, make-ahead, freezer-friendly, slow-cooker, etc.), what ingredients you want to include (beef, chicken, pasta, fish, vegetables, etc.), and what diet you need to follow (diabetic, gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.)?!

But wait.

It gets better.
