Sea moss is an edible, spiny sea vegetable in the algae family that’s packed with nutrients like folate, vitamin K and B, iron, iodine, magnesium, zinc, and calcium. It can be consumed raw and in supplement form, however, it’s usually eaten as a gel. You can add it to your smoothies, blend it into puddings, or eat it straight from the jar. With potential benefits including healing your gut, clearing your skin, boosting your immune system, and helping you lose weight, it’s no surprise this trendy superfood is all over social media.

Sea moss gel is low in calories and sugar and is a great way to add more nutrients to your diet. It’s super rich in antioxidants too, which help fight free radicals. Plus, it’s a great source of polyunsaturated fat, a nutritious type of healthy fat that may help reduce cholesterol levels. It’s also high in iron and magnesium. Just one ounce of sea moss contains 14% of the daily value of iron, which is essential for healthy red blood cells.   2. Place the sea moss in a bowl and cover with fresh spring water.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for 12-48 hours.
  4. Pour off the water and give the sea moss another rinse.
  5. Place the sea moss in a high-powered blender with about 1 cup of fresh spring water.
  6. Blend until desired texture is reached.
  7. Place the sea moss gel in an air-tight, sterile container (can be refrigerated up to one month).
  8. Take one to two tablespoons per day.
