When we first moved to Singapore, my parents warned me that things would be different, and while I missed my grandparents terribly in the first few months after we left Canada, I adjusted to the move without any issues and didn’t understand why my mother and sister cried all the time. The weather was gorgeous every single day, we lived in a condo with a pool, everyone drove on the wrong side of the street, and the food at the grocery stores was weird and crazy and foreign.

Every single day seemed like a different adventure to me, and I was pretty sure we had moved to the best place in the entire world, but about a month into the school year I made a discovery that tainted my opinion of Singaporeans forever: they don’t celebrate Halloween.

I remember feeling devastated after hearing the news, but I was fortunate enough to have a lot of fabulous American friends whose mothers liked to throw parties and playdates filled with cool Halloween games throughout the month of October to help keep the Halloween spirit alive for all of us.

It was pretty amazing.

And now that my daughter is in school, I look forward to paying it forward, but apart from the book Fun Halloween Party Games – 25 of the Most Entertaining Halloween Party Games by Betty Bailey, I haven’t been able to find any decent Halloween party game books on Amazon.

How is that even possible, anyway?!

But I still have every intention of organizing fun holiday-inspired games and activities for my daughter and her classmates, so I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time scouring Pinterest for ideas.
