Do you ever sit down at the end of a busy day and feel like a complete and utter failure as a parent? Maybe you didn’t take the time to spend quality time with your daughter, or you lost your temper when your son threw a temper tantrum at the grocery store, or you simply didn’t have anything left to give of yourself and rushed through the bedtime routine, and now you’re sitting on the couch debating if you should wake your little ones so you can give them a hug and tell them how much you love them.
I had one of those nights not so long ago, and in the midst of berating myself for being a horrible mother while simultaneously making promises that I would do better the following day (and every single day after that), I read an article that not only made me feel better, but also reminded me that I’m only human, and that as long as I make an effort to do my best each day and my daughter goes to bed feeling loved and secure and happy, I shouldn’t let one bad day derail me.
Naturally, I cannot find the link to the article (I was having a bad day, okay?!), but I did find a ton of fabulous parenting quotes that have helped put things into perspective and remind me of what’s important.
My biggest takeaways were to lead by example, give the gift of time, and be more present with my daughter, and I hope they are as inspirational to you as they have been to me!
