On Valentine’s Day 2013, my daughter took a nasty fall at mom-and-me gymnastics class, and the 2 of us spent the afternoon in the ER while my husband lay on our couch with a back injury after being removed from his gym on a stretcher 2 days prior.
It was a lot of fun.
We must’ve waited almost an hour and a half to be seen by a doctor, and my daughter screamed the entire time we were in the waiting room unless I paced the hall with her little body hoisted over my shoulder while Adele’s, “Someone Like You” blared from my iPhone.
The other patients must have loved us.
Sensing my distress, a nurse took pity on me and offered my sweet bear a popsicle, which ended up being the worst decision anyone has ever made in their entire life. Not only did the nurse’s presence set her off into ANOTHER crying jag, but she has absolutely REFUSED to touch a popsicle since.
Now, this wouldn’t be a big deal for most mothers, but one of my favorite summer memories is walking to our local convenience store for a grape popsicle, and I really wish I could share that joy with my child, you know?
So I’m on the hunt for delicious popsicle recipes she can’t pass up…
