gentle reminder 👀👇🏻 yesterday is gone, an gentle reminder 👀👇🏻
yesterday is gone, and tomorrow isn’t promised. you can’t change the past, and you can’t control the future, so rather than overthinking THIS, and trying to control THAT, just breathe. allow yourself to let go, be present where your feet are, and be unapologetically YOU! ♡

my husband and i have one boundary in our relation my husband and i have one boundary in our relationship: i cannot, under any circumstances, post anything about him on social.
.
but i am allowed to share photos of his back, so i present you with this gem. ❤️🤣
.
all jokes aside, my boo is everything to me and our love story is so special. we first met in the hallway of the office building we both worked in, but didn’t go on our first date until 3+ years later. people thought we were crazy when we got engaged 7 short months later, but when you know, you know.
.
in the 16 years since our first date, we’ve experienced a lot of things together — some high highs, and some low lows — but no matter what has been thrown at us, the one thing that has remained solid is our relationship. i never understand when people say that marriage is hard work because being married to him is the easiest thing i’ve ever done. we complement each other in the most perfect ways, we love each other fiercely, and we laugh allll the time. we also created a pretty incredible human together who brings us more joy than we ever thought possible.
.
to my valentine: thanks for supporting and loving me, and for helping me to create a home full of love and laughter for our beautiful girl. i’m so lucky you’re mine. ❤️

i haven’t introduced myself in a while, so hi! 👋🏻 i’m gwen — mom, wife, perpetual worrier, and founder of meraki lane.
.
when i first started blogging in 2011, i had one goal: to earn enough money to pay for a weekly cleaning service. i have since grown meraki lane to a readership of over 2 million women a month, and now have a team of 6 bad 🍑 women supporting me behind the scenes. writing those words makes me so incredibly proud. 🥹
.
i was raised at a time when women were encouraged to make themselves as small as possible - both literally and figuratively. no one encouraged me to speak up, or take up space, and when i did start to find my voice as i got older, i was told that i was ‘too much.’ it wasn’t meant as a compliment.
.
and then C was born and my whole world was flipped upside down. my daughter is everything i am not, and i feel so much pride (and envy) in how confident, assertive, and sure of herself she is. she is going places, and i am furiously taking notes. i love this generation. they are loud and proud, and it’s up to us to ensure they don’t lose their voices.
.
this page has been in a bit of transition lately. despite my passion for encouraging women to love and respect themselves, there’s been a massive disconnect (imo) as i haven’t been practicing what i’ve been trying to preach. it’s been a ‘do as i say but not as i do’ kind of account, which doesn’t really lend itself to getting personal and being real. do you feel me?
.
anyway, in an effort to be the mom i want to be to my beautiful girl, i will be using this space to empower myself by lifting YOU up. 🙌🏻
.
some fun facts about me: i grew up in singapore, i eat peanut butter everyday, i have (mostly) overcome a debilitating fear of flying, i’m allergic to eggs, i wear hearing aids, the sound of people chewing makes me stabby, and i hate cilantro.
.
thanks for being here! ❤️

do you overthink everything??? 🥺 . we all have do you overthink everything??? 🥺
.
we all have moments in our lives when we overthink things, but for some people (🙋🏼‍♀️), overthinking can become… problematic.
.
now, it’s pretty normal to ruminate over big things like making a difficult decision, medical tests or procedures, and huge life changes. in these incidences, this tendency to hyper-focus is usually pretty short-lived and actually helps us deal with whatever challenge we’re facing.
.
overthinking becomes a problem when we repetitively think about something to the point that it interferes with our day-to-day lives. our thoughts become excessive and distressing, making it hard to focus on anything else.
.
i have had periods in my life where i have gotten myself caught in this spiral and let me tell you — it’s exhausting! when i’m ruminating over something, this little exercise really helps me break the cycle so i can feel in control and at peace, instead of allowing my mind to go round and round allllll damn day. give it a try!
.
and if you want more information and tips to help you stop overthinking everything, i’ve linked to a post in my bio with additional tips and ideas. 🧘🏼‍♀️
